Give the Gift of Friendship
Host An AFS student for the 09/10 School Year.
Exchange students placed in Seattle public schools are grandfathered into the schools where your own child attends. For the Seattle families without children in the public high schools, it is potluck for the school assignment.
AFS families are not paid with money but with everlasting memories. Host families are responsible for room and board including school lunches. Students have personal spending money and full health benefits. Students are supported by a student/family liaison and three overnight orientations spaced throughout the year.
If you see a student who you would like to host, PLEASE IMMEDIATELY e-mail Heidi Cook, the Hosting Coordinator for AFS Greater Puget Sound at heidicook@aol.com. Heidi will know if the student whom you would like to host is a good fit for the closest school to your home. Sadly, we have some schools with language requirements for exchange students. Best student/family placements are based on shared leisure interests not exclusively on language and nationality alone. Heidi will reserve your chosen student for your family and start the hosting process.
These students need to family and school placed by the mid-June2009. However, some of our school districts/school do not accept exchange students after June 1. Do not procrastinate as the early bird gets the worm/exchange student.
